Anytime you can get more Richard Harrow, I'm all for it.

Samuel L. Jackson has confirmed Kevin Feige’s prediction that Iron Man 3 will be, with the exception of the title character, an Avengers-free zone. Jackson told Total Film magazine, “I think my next time as Nick Fury is in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, because I’m not in Iron Man 3. None of the Avengers are in Iron Man 3. It’s a standalone Iron Man movie.”

Since Jackson isn’t playing Nick Fury in Thor: The Dark World, this means that audiences will have to wait until the Captain America sequel unspools in April of 2014. Of course there is always the possibility that Jackson will appear in some form or another in the new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, though so far there has been no announcement of how Joss Whedon and the other writers working on the S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot are going to deal with the character of Nick Fury.

parkmania 11-29-2012 06:34 PM

Also, RE: Guardians of the Galaxy:

Meanwhile, casting for the film is already underway, with a number of male leads testing for the Peter Quill character, according to Deadline. Among the actors involved are Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, and Eddie Redmayne.

No cameo's from other characters in Iron Man 3... I don't really like that idea. At least have 1 character for 30 seconds.... I don't know- it would seem cooler to see Bruce or Fury or somebody taking a phone call or working in a lab.

Lock Jaw 11-29-2012 08:58 PM

I, on the other hand, like the idea of no cameos.

Hm. Don't know what happened. Tried to multipost. Whatever, you get the gist...

I don't understand what the flap is about anyway. Old-ass post causes uproar among comic fans from the guy who made PG Porn, which is pretty much ignored in this instance. You would think THAT would cause people to boycott.

Cameos are cool, and usually not neccessary... the problem with the Marvel Movieverse is the fact that they have made the fans expect it so much that it's dissappointing when there isn't one. Same thing with the P.S. in the credits. If there isn't one, there is frenzy and outrage.

Lock Jaw 11-29-2012 09:13 PM

No cameos and no post credit scenes are both hypothetical situations that have not happened yet.

You cannot definitively state that it creates disappointment, frenzy, and outrage until it actually happens once.

dronepool 11-29-2012 09:22 PM

The thing is, they built up this 'movie universe' and now the thought of them wasting a chance of a 30 second nudge after their biggest movie ever seems rather wasteful.

Kalyx triaD 11-29-2012 09:23 PM

I can, however, imagine the first MCU movie to not have a post credits scene will be looked at cross eyed. Cameos could be placed there (and really, I'm betting even IM3 will have a post credits cameo - they have a new cosmic arc to build). Even without a face showing up, there should be a lot of dialogue related to the Avengers event. It will be mentioned in all Phase 2 movies, trust me. Can't ignore it.

I don't mind the actual movie not having other characters, anymore than an issue of Batman that makes no reference to Superman or Green Lantern. They team up and then go back to their own lives, that's how it's been. Movie fans will have to square with that.

loopydate 11-29-2012 11:44 PM

I'm a little disappointed to not get an immediate follow-up to the tremendous Downey/Ruffalo chemistry, but Marvel hasn't steered me wrong yet.

I wasn't saying there was going to be rioting in the streets and people burning theatres down and such. But it has happened.

Some theatres had somehow not run the post credit for Thor. That at least was an accident, but had folks in a WTF tizzy. First Class didn't have shit. Lots of pissy, angry people around me in the theatre for that one.

And every movie had some sort of cameo. Even given the time frame of Capt. America where it would make little sense to put in almost anyone else as they weren't even born yet (save Wolverine presumably roaming the Canadian wilderness somewhere), they still managed to squeeze in the original Human Torch costume.

Again, to establish it as an "every time" thing, then not make with it once, is a set up for dissappointment and borderline trolling.

As long as they don't resort to Mortal Kombat II levels of shoehorning, a cameo here and there would be fine. It doesn't even have to be ANY of the Avengers or X-Men or family members of the Fantastic variety. Honestly, I'd mark the fuck out if they threw in Alpha Flight for a few seconds somewhere.

This.

Considering we're not going to get a new hulk movie, I thought it would be great to bring Ruffalo/Hulk in as a supporting character in one of the movies.

There's prob'ly enough slash fiction on the internet to cover that in spades. That was too 34-able not to be written down by some fangirl (or closeted fanboy) IMMEDIATELY after watching it in the theatre.

Today is a big day for Marvel NOW!

The release of Avengers #1 and Thunderbolts. 2 books I have been dying for. Also got my copies of Iron Man 3 and Spider Man 699. I cannot wait until quitting time!

edit: Also getting Deadpool 3 and All New X Men 3. Damn.

I have openly laughed out loud at least 5 or 6 times. Starting #3 in a few minutes. I like the story and the art.

I don't know what you don't like about it.

Reavant 12-05-2012 09:39 PM

ummm its fucking stupid.

Its not as funny as when daniel way was writing it. They completely lost deadpools character. hes just silly for the sake of being silly where as before there was a reason and usually a reason for it that when shown at the end looked genius. It always left you wondering if he meant to have the outcome he did or if it was accident. This new series has him hacking and slashing dead presidents and throwing out stupid jokes.

Kalyx triaD 12-05-2012 10:19 PM

Is that so far off DP as a character?

Issue #3 was shitty :nono:

The first 2 were pretty good. I'm not giving up on DP and the new writers. Big fans of theirs.

What's left for marvel Now!? Captain America. Is there anything else?

no but the old writers made him so awesome that it spoiled me

Kalyx triaD 12-11-2012 10:03 PM

So CM Punk wrote the foreword for the AvX hardcover. Went halfway through the book and I gotta say, Cyclops is well and truly a cock. The writers seem much aware of this.

dronepool 12-11-2012 11:54 PM

New Deadpool is cool, a step up from most of Way's stuff... plus the art is great. I love the mix of silly and violence. I actually think he was a bit incompetent during Way's run and did things randomly for the LOL'S while trying to be something. This feels like it takes it self less serious so the silly factor works here and I like that it's just a random side story.

However Joe Kelly, Fabian Nicieza and Remender are the top Deadpool writers as far as I'm concerned.
