I get the feeling that at the end of the whole Punk/Nexus thing, Punk will come out being a face.

I think his Slammy award speech was directed towards Nexus and slowly he'll do the whole "destroy Nexus from the inside" thing, sortof like what Cena did, but only better.

That's why it's a good thing Punk is there. They probably would fade into obscurity because there's no star power there yet, outside of the group threat nobody really cares about them, they've still only been on TV less than a year. It sounds like you're still disappointed that the Nexus program with Cena didn't work out the way you hoped. It looks like they have a plan for Barrett which is good for him. Punk has a program with Cena ready made and could be set for 'the push' with guys to back him to make him seem more of a threat. Nexus have been refreshed and are interesting off the back of that alliance. And as long as they leave enough to work with afterwards, they can try and make one of the guys (not all of them will 'make it' and rightfully so, not very often a group of guys come up at roughly the same time and all turn out to be stars) Gabriel maybe, by having him eventually get the boot and getting into it with Punk. It's 'refreshing' across the page.

Xero 01-10-2011 09:54 PM

I don't see anything refreshing about the Nexus itself. It's still a bunch of lackeys who won't be able to get the job done at the end of the day lead by someone who happens to have some steam behind him and won't be completely buried. That's all I see them as. Punk is the only reason it's interesting. They're still doing the same shit they've done for more than half a year.

Could I be wrong? Absolutely, and I hope I am, but right now, nothing but Punk refreshes Nexus, and he's not enough to make it interesting as a whole at the moment.

Xero 01-10-2011 10:15 PM

Okay, after the opening of RAW I can say I'm wrong. Just hope Nexus doesn't get buried in the end.

Ernest Mack Shell was arrested late Saturday night in Brushfork, West Virginia after the wrestlers who participated on his show billed as "Dare to Compare" showlearned that he didn't have any money to pay them or others who worked the event.

"He had promised to pay and provide motel rooms for all of the wrestlers who appeared Saturday night," said Deputy W.E. Rose of the Mercer County Sheriff's Department. "Two of the wrestlers, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and Diamond Dallas Page flew in to participate in the event, but all of the others drove here. Some of them came from as far away as Nashville, Tenn., Louisville, Ky., and other areas. Most drove 6-7 hours to be part of this."

Rose added that he and the other deputies arrived at 6 p.m., and at approximately 11:10 p.m., Shell's booking agent told the officers that they should keep a close eye on him.

"He said that Shell didn't have any money and that he thought he might try to skip out," Rose said. "About five minutes later the armory manager came and got us and said: 'You guys might want to get up here. This guy's about to get his butt kicked."

Several wrestlers cornered Shell backstage. "I said: 'Can you pay us and the rest of these here?' When he said he couldn’t, I said: 'Put your hands behind your back. You're under arrest.' He said this was his 174th wrestling promotion,' Rose said. "Some of these wrestlers didn’t have the money to drive back home. Just like us, they were planning to get paid. He was lucky he hired us. Otherwise, he would have had to deal with all of those wrestlers."

Shell was charged with 10 counts of obtaining services on false pretenses. "Those were just the counts in Mercer County," Rose added. "He is facing another 19 counts where he was calling people when he was in Kentucky to participate in the event. He was making deals with the wrestlers as the matches were going on. He said that all he had was an ATM card with a $400 limit."

Shell's bail was set at $50,000 Sunday afternoon. He was being held at the Bluefield City Jail after his appearance in magistrate court.
Beautiful.

So from reading TNA's spoilers for this weeks Impact, it seems they've fucked themselves out of a great PPV promotional tool again, by letting the Hardy's reunite on FREE TV!! Instead of building up them reuniting for a PPV. You would think even TNA had enough common sense to use THAT to their advantage.

They sold their souls to Spike TV. So they have to do things on the tv show because Spike is deeply financially involved with TNA Wrestling. Spike was the reason they moved to Monday Nights because Spike wanted to compete against USA Network.

I kindof thing you are bloating the value of that just to make a point of its stupidity. It was dumb that they did it but I don't think it has much money value. They have reunited at least five times in the past. It wasn't as bad as when they had both RVD Vs. Jeff Hardy and RVD Vs. AJ Styles on the same night on tv for the TNA Championship.

Could Nexus be broken into 2 groups

Nexus has it's personalities.

As seen last night on Raw, it looks like they are booking Health Slater, Otunga, and Justin Gabriel as somewhat faces. They've always been pretty reluctant to follow orders when it's unnecessary violence.

My question is, would it be possible to break the 3 away from Nexus to form their own stable to feud with Nexus as faces.

If needed, you could bring back some of the old Nexus Members to fill in the ranks to keep Nexus numbers on their side.

I look at Justin Gabriel and see another Evan Bourne.

I look at Otunga and see another John Cena.

I look at Health Slater and see another babyface CM Punk.

Your ideas?

bigslimjj 01-11-2011 01:00 PM

It could be done. I don't know if it would work so well, but it could be done. Just as long as Stevie Ray and Vincent aren't in charge of it.:y:

VSG 01-11-2011 01:02 PM

To play devil's advocate here, I will say that the first comparison isn't anywhere near as ridiculous as the two that follow it.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-11-2011 01:10 PM

Heath Slater as the babyface CM Punk? Justin Gabriel is the one with the epic beard dude! If anything he's the CM Punk.

I would say this could work only if they were on two different brands. Both of the groups would be heels though, so it wouldn't be like the the nWo black and white and the Wolfpack. We'll have to see what happens on Smackdown. I'm guessing that Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel will switch to the Blue Team tonight. They will end up helping Wade Barrett defeat The Big Show and will be the The Nexus. Since CM Punk has now changed the name to the New Nexus (which Michael Cole botched by saying it before Punk did btw) I would say that the Nexus name is up for grabs.

Gass 01-11-2011 01:17 PM

Gabriel has the most potential of any of them IMO. Good look, good style. Unfortunately his character has never really been developed.

whiteyford 01-11-2011 02:11 PM

I always figured they'd try a 2nd nexus group on smackdown, or at least use the tag belts as an excuse for them to be on both brands. Punk said something about who'd be stupid enough to take this kind of abuse anyway, figured it'd lead to Slater/Gabriel getting a more prominent role in the group rather than kicked out.

I bet though if you do it on PPV, and hype it to be something big like TNA's copy of a 2 man power trip, would do wonders for their buy rates.

Snowden 01-11-2011 02:29 PM

If Slater and Gabriel stay on Raw they'll get lost in the shuffle...they're not going align themselves with Cena, and otherwise they'll go the way of Darren Young.

I say move them to Raw and stick them with Barrett. Have them interfere with his match w/ Show this week, under the pretense of them wanting to get back under him because of all the success they had (Tag Team Titles, they beat Edge and Orton, etc). Makes Barrett more of a force, gives them an "out" to Barrett beating Show, and could create a cool rumble moment where the two Nexi face off.

Sycophant 01-11-2011 02:33 PM

I don't think Nexus could effectively split up. They may all have potential now, but it's too soon to drop them from Nexus. Gabriel and Slater need more character development before they can go out on their own or they will end up like Darren Young...they will get pops initially for coming back to feud with their former stable-mates, but what do you do with them after that? People will eventually get bored and they can't feud with Nexus forever. At best, they would end up in an eight man tag match with Cena and Orton vs. Punk, McGillicuty, Harris, and Otunga, but once that rub wears off...back to jobbing on Superstars.

Sycophant 01-11-2011 02:34 PM

Wow. Posted that about 15 seconds too late and I was beaten to the Darren Young comparison lol

Heisenberg 01-11-2011 02:36 PM

nW-OH NO!!!....

Nightwing 01-11-2011 02:52 PM

The first thing that came to mind was that Gabriel, Ginger will follow Barrett to Smackdown and reform there. Maybe throw Sheffield in the mix if hes due back anytime soon. I cant see them succeeding on their own at this point.

Gass 01-11-2011 02:54 PM

Here's what I don't get. Why keep rotating the Nexus roster as WWE has been doing since its inception? One guy comes in, two guys go out, etc etc.

Why not just stick with the original lineup in the first place...or one of the lineups at any time after that. Even up to the present time, it appears the roster keeps shifting.

It just detracts from the strength and goals of the stable and prevents character development. Hell, guys like Slater and Gabriel should have more personality than they do 8 months from their debut.

So, instead of two feuding nexuses, I would still prefer just one strong stable that is enjoyable to watch and has strong characters in it.

dronepool 01-11-2011 02:55 PM

New Nexus vs Blue Nexus?

Next Big Thing 01-11-2011 03:17 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if one group went back to Barrett and another stayed with Punk and those groups feuded for awhile.

Punk's Jim Jones esque persona is intense and I think a program between Barrett and Punk would be interesting.

Daniel Bryan was fired, Darren Young was shit and Tarver/Skip got injured, hence Husky and Michael.

Now they have a new leader, he only wants followers that would die for him, which is fair enough. Intrigued to see what happens and probably can't resist reading the spoilers tomorrow :'(

Nicky Fives 01-11-2011 04:24 PM

He'll be back..... He will definitely be inducted into the HOF once he cuts his ties from TNA...... the same can be said about Kurt Angle.....

Rammsteinmad 01-11-2011 04:34 PM

The Nexus situation now, with Gabriel and Slater, is really interesting and certainly has my attention.

However, to be honest, there are so many possibilities with where this could go that I can't even be bothered to imagine it. I'm just gonna wait it out and see what happens.

TheAdamEvansFan 01-11-2011 05:46 PM

Good analogy on Slater/Gabriel joining Barrett on Smackdown.

I could see Barrett making a return to Raw for one night only and "saving" his true longtime followers and bringing them back to "his" show.

But I wonder where Otunga would fit into this since he seems like a one man team or a leader instead of taking orders from Barrett or CM Punk.

A blue group would be interesting.. How about Otunga turning face, screwing over CM Punk and teaming with Cena to form a STELLER TAG TEAM of 2 who can't wrestle but look like beasts!

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-11-2011 05:47 PM

The problem is that I think Dixie Carter makes enough money for herself running the company the way it is now that she doesn't see a reason to push it. They could make more money if they somehow can find a way to get out of the lease on the Impact Zone or whatever deal they have with Universal Studios.

TNA live shows usually do fair to good. They need to get out there and charge the fuck out of people to watch it. You'd also get a fan base that actually cares that they are watching and having been trucked in from riding some Harry Potter Quidditch ride. Last TNA event I went to the place was going nuts. It's time for them to stop the what else do we need in talent. It's time to serious move out of Florida and whatever wrestlers don't like it it's time for them to retire and fuck off. Get the young people out on the road and have them do what they do.

TheAdamEvansFan 01-11-2011 05:48 PM

Btw.. The 2 NWO Factions brought in huge sales & interest from not only fans, but celebrities and athletes.

If the people bitching about missing Attitude Era style wrestling, that might be as close as you're going to get under the PG confines.

TheAdamEvansFan 01-11-2011 05:51 PM

Kurt Angle will have a wrestling role to come back too or atleast more active of a in ring role than Foley.

If his situation with Jarrett and his wife ever goes south, then he can easily return to WWE soon.

Until then, he has good chemistry and a good feud to run with Jarrett for a while.

I gotta agree with VSG here, why do people want Otunga as a face if majority of us pretty much agree that he is crap in the ring? Nexus right now reminds me alot of NWO 2000, just for the fact that they really have nothing to do with the original group. I dont mind seeing Gabriel and Slater become a tag team to help fill in the tag team division, and maybe have Skippy form a tag team with someone when he comes back (doesnt have to be from Nexus). I think the whole "Nexus" storyline has run its course, I think they should just kinda pair off some of them as tag teams and release the rest. Kinda what they should have done with the Spirit Squad instead of "killing" off the entire group

parkmania 01-11-2011 07:02 PM

With the exception of the nWo, most stables that have any degree of success have a maximum of 4 members. With Gabriel and Slater possibly kicked out, that would leave Punk, Otunga, McG, and Harris.

I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

He's clearly on great terms with WWE, considering they plugged his book a few months ago.

The one thing I hate about Mick Foley returning again is that every one of his returns is just him jobbing out to someone. Remember him returning as Cactus Jack because of his vicious hate for Randy Orton? What about his return to destroy Edge at Wrestlemania? Former Raw GM Arrested!

WMAQ-Ch. 5 sports anchor Mike Adamle has been charged with driving under the influence after he was stopped by Evanston police early Monday and later displayed “erratic behavior,” authorities said Tuesday.

The former Chicago Bear and Northwestern University All-American was arrested at 1 a.m. Monday in the area of Main Street and Judson Avenue, according to a police report.

Adamle was pulled over for allegedly disobeying a red-flashing traffic signal at Main and Sheridan, according to police Cmdr. Jay Parrott. The officer who pulled him over believed Adamle could be under influence, so he conducted a field sobriety test, which Parrott said Adamle failed.

Adamle was taken to the police station, where he exhibited some ”erratic behavior,” according to Parrott, who would not elaborate. According to a 2009 Tribune column, Adamle suffers from epilepsy.

Adamle, 61, was taken to Evanston Hospital, where blood was taken, Parrott said. Police are not releasing his blood alcohol level pending results of a drug screening from the state police crime lab.

Police Chief Richard Eddington ordered that Adamle’s mug shot not be released, according to Parrott.

Adamle, of Evanston, graduated from Northwestern in 1971. During his college career he earned All-American honors and was named Big Ten MVP in his senior season, according to his WMAQ-Ch. 5 biography.

He was a fourth-round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 1971, and played for the New York Jets and Chicago Bears before retiring in 1977.

After his football career, Adamle worked as a sports reporter and anchor for a variety of stations before joining WMAQ-Ch. 5 as sports anchor. Program Directo Toni Falvo declined comment on Tuesday.

Adamle is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 14 in Skokie. He could not immediately be reached for comment.

There are 2 sides to every story. And even if Helms is right, it's HBK. Get the fuck over it.

Volare 01-12-2011 07:58 AM

We've all given someone shit about something they said, this is just Helms' turn in the shitlight.

Gass 01-12-2011 09:31 AM

shisen: Agreed. And then WWE can rehash the Barrett/Cena storyline to the point where Cena is again "fired" by Barrett, only to come back and start a fourth Nexus group.

BizarroKing 01-12-2011 01:28 PM

SPOILER: show
Last Night @ the SD! tapings Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater joined SD! and look to be joining Barrett and the returning Ezekiel Jackson in a new stable

Daniel Bryan should have a group and they could dub the lyrics "Not the nexus..not the nexus..not the nexus" onto his theme

LOL bring in Young, and once they're cleared to wrestle again, Tarver and Sheffield to join Bryan.

Shouldn't he teach that to his best friend Gregory Helms?

Tazz Dan 01-12-2011 03:16 PM

Nexus should attack them and then Barrett should go "do you know who I am now?!"
