Hey now, he didn’t jump into a crowd like a dickhead. That I’ve seen anyway.
Dude got hurt carrying the wrestling portion of this program. |
Pretty excited for the AEW game. I havent purchased a WWE game in a few years but my wife got me the 2K one with AJ styles as the cover whatever year that is.
I will put down the cash for AEW in hopes of something a bit different. |
2k22 is actually pretty good.
|
I’ve heard good things about 2k22, although I haven’t played a WWE game in years. A lot of people are suggesting you just download AEW wrestlers for that. The AEW game itself is projected to be terrible. The head developer ran for the hills and joined the 2k team.
|
2k22 is v fun. Really looking forward to the AEW game, especially since I read it's coming to PC
|
2k22 is the first WWE game I've played in years and the first game that seemed like they really made positive changes.
Still not a whole lot of footage out on the AEW game so I'll wait and see but I'm keen to check it out. Might be a bit more arcade-y which I'm fine with. I've got Fire Pro if I want more like simulation wrestling. |
The official site is now live
https://aew.thqnordic.com/ Not a whole lot more available than what was already known. Definitely getting vibes of the N64 wrestling games tho, which is NOT a bad thing. |
Danhaussen sucks. Can't wrestle. And the gimmick is boring. When AEW came to Detroit, the darlings there went apeshit for him...I just don't see it.
|
They released a trailer for the game and it looks horrible.
|
Splaya woke up today and chose to be cursed.
|
Ahh the game that they spent like $50 million to make that the Cultist have been saying will sell 5 million copies for 2 years, because 5 times more people will buy the game then watch the actual show. Dubbalos man
|
Quote:
They are 100% not going for "realistic". That has been clear from the beginning. It closely resembles the N64 days of "WCW/NWO Revenge" and "Wrestlemania 2000". If the game plays closely to those titles, it will sell very well. |
Love danhausen. Makes me laugh. Would like to see him interrupt more backstage interviews.
|
I'm not excited about some of the minigame shit I saw in the AEW game trailer but it looks like the THQ/AKI N64 games so I'll be good if it plays anything like those.
(Though even if it plays like WWE 2k22 I'll be good. I like those controls. Don't really give a shit about graphics/art style). Just give me decent controls at the very least.) |

It’s been a while but I think it was “WWF Attitude” where wrestling games started that “up, up, right, down, right, B to clothesline” ridiculousness and I just couldn’t anymore.
|
War Zone and Attitude were like that. Terrible.
|
ECW Hardcore Revolution too
|
Never played the ECW game but I heard terrible things.
|
Literally all I need is for the wrestling gameplay to be fun. That’s all that matters. Gameplay sucks, the game sucks. Pretty simple.
Don’t care about any of the optional mini games but don’t see the point in bitching about them UNLESS the core gameplay sucks, which none of us can know yet. |
People have been trying to replicate the AKI engine for 20 years to no avail.
|
Yo I don't remember this in any of the N64 Wrestling Games

To be fair, I would have loved wacky minigames in the N64 Wrestling Games

So I actually like AEW for the most part but I just feel like the last few months have been a downhill slide. I know the injury bug got them hard, but even so, the quality has been dropping hard imo. We keep having these special shows and gimmick matches and none of it feels like it matters. There aren't really any compelling storylines rn imo. Feel like even match quality has dropped a bit and they try to compensate with all these crazy gimmicks and blood in every match and it just comes off flat and overworked. They are taking too long to do anything with MJF and it's basically being ignored. Wardlow was on fire and I dunno if it's just me but it feels like he has already cooled off way too much. Just the whole product feels off compared to where it was a year ago.
And they really picked the worst time to shit the bed. Well maybe not shit, but def dutch ovened. Vince is gone and WWE is picking up steam and they've hardly even done anything yet. IF (and thats a big if) WWE keeps turning it around and improving...man I feel like AEW might fall off into loltna territory. I dunno, just want them to get their shit together and be more fun like it was. Maybe their new 2 VPs of creative (Sonjay and QT) will be able to work some magic. Even putting other guys in creative and implying it won't all be TK is a good sign there imo. Dunno how good these 2 will be at the job but I'm interested to see where they take it. Honestly don't expect much before the next big PPV but I'm hoping they start picking up steam from there. |
Oh and please for the love God can you at least save one of the 2 biggest matches on a card for the end of the show? Christ. I use the term a good bit, but damn TK really does blow his load way too early on basically every show. I am nowhere near as interested in the last hour and 15 minutes as I am the first 45. It just fades away into the background noise and only occasionally gets my attention after that.
It's a chore getting through 3 hours of RAW but at least I know something entertaining is prob gonna happen at the end. Keeps me more invested overall. |
I’m not a mini game kinda guy in almost any game so that’s meh for me but there’s a lot of “bells and whistles” I don’t use in a lot of games so them existing don’t worry me so long as there not forced on me.
I kind of enjoyed the TNA game, I’m a bit of a sucker for just being able to have the right wrestlers represented with the right music and entrances etc. If it’s a fairly easy play and has that im in. |

I’m getting the feeling they made mini-games because they couldn’t make the actual wrestling part well. |

Like if story/campaign mode or whatever ends up being short or underwhelming, then absolutely it might come back to "well maybe they could've done more with this if they didn't waste time on those stupid mini-games", but we really don't know yet what the mini-games came at the expense of. I'm okay with the addition of mini-games so long as they're just that: additions. Rather than being in lieu of something core wrestling gamers would've reasonably expected. |
One thing that threw me off...a few months ago they'd been prepping people for the in-game roster to be a lot smaller than people were expecting, around 50 was the number being thrown out.
So to see Abadon and Yuka Sakazaki being shown in the latest clips caught me off guard. That would seemingly point to the roster being a lot bigger than initially reported as I wouldn't for one second have entertained the idea of them being on a 50-person roster. They're barely ever on TV. |

Or you're going to get the dies hards who usually piss and moan about micro transactions and post game dlc gleefully throwing down fifteen bucks to get Brian Pillman Jr, Leva Bates and Peter Avalon.

They should put Owen in the game. Just for the freak outs.
|
Pretty sure Owen was already confirmed to be in the game.
Kenny also said that the roster and story were meant to be reflective of AEW history up until the turn of 2022. So it would make sense that Cody is in there as you literally can’t tell the story of AEW without him. |
If I were the money man behind the business, the first thing I would do would be remove Tony Khan from booking duties, since he has no real experience or qualification for the job outside of being a fan.
Unfortunately for AEW, those two people are one in the same, and they are stuck as long as his ego persuades him that he can do it all. |
Tony Kennedy McKhan

Gabe Sapolsky was out there. Jim Ross and Arn Anderson work for the company. He has to go with himself.
What brilliant angles has TK come up with? Which feuds have actually picked up steam and been worthwhile? Even at best, even if you love AEW, you have to admit he is a maintenance booker. Gabe Sapolsky is probably going to end up back in WWE now. Triple H might also pick up Delirious. |
Battle of the Belts shows have sucked so far. Typical AEW. Claudio vs. Takeshita has me intrigued though. I just wish it wasn’t for a zombie title.

I wonder how our resident white knight Noid will react to an internet nerd wishing AIDS AND death on a wrestler.
|
Punk is a bit cringy. He hasn’t been there in a long-ass time and is kind of desperately trying to position everyone against WWE, whom he did try and seek employment from since this “war” started. He’s kind of appropriating the dramas of these women into his story, which is totally uncalled for. It’s going to look even more awkward if Sasha works things out with WWE and leaves him holding his nuts in the wind.
|
I’m not sure how keen Sasha Banks is to sign with a company that steadily pushes a guy who said he wants to rape her. I’m sure she’s just dying to get into a locker room with women who actively bang the guy too.

Fightful is reporting that people within AEW think MJF still wants out. A lot of fans are adamant this is work, but can anyone tell me what the point of all this is? What does anyone gain from MJF being off TV?
|
Tiny Khan missed out on Dakota Kai, and now Doomsday. Guess Daddy's money can't get everybody. How long until Samoa Joe and Keith Lee get tired or wrestling on Dark and want to go back home to Papa H? Tiny will NOT handle that well
|
It’ll be interesting to see how Tony handles release requests. Samoa Joe is a good shout for someone who would rather be in WWE.
|
It's probably not a great sign I watch Dynamite every week and I didn't even know these two tag teams were feuding, and feuding to the point they need a street fight...but I also don't really know who Josh Woods is...don't think he's ever been on Dynamite...
anyway the main event of rampage was a street fight between swerve/lee and their heated rivals tony nese and josh woods |

Any "cool factor" that AEW had was ruined by Tony Khan hugging and tweeting his way in the annals of Wrestlecrap. The stupid indy/Chikara/PWG booking on national TV is one deadly sin that seems palatable for enough people. But now with super cool Triple Haitch leading WWE, Rapist Vince isn't leading the show anymore and the fans are going to start to jump back where the nostalgia and history really matters.
The best thing that someone like Punk, Danielson, Mox or Jericho could do is really take the risk to tell Tony Khan that he's ruining this project which could have possibly been a really great product. Just like Vince was the cancer that needed to leave WWE in the end, it's already apparent that the same situation is happening at AEW. |
At the very least, TK shouldn't be the on-screen authority. I know it doesn't happen often but when he comes out to make announcements, I cringe. Keep him behind the scenes please.
|
But how would you guys feel if TK came out right now to SEND HOOKKKKKKKKKKKK
|
Quote:
|
I mean I guess as long as HOOK gets SENT that might be okay

Tony Khan is a dork but him being a dork doesn’t hinder my enjoyment of the product. If he makes a bad booking decision now and then (which he certainly has) then yeah that hinders me but I couldn’t care less about him acting like a doofus in press conferences.
|
I don't pay any attention to the press conferences so he can geek it up there all he wants lol

No one watching Battle of the Belts tonight?

Apparently Claudio and Takeshita had a banger no one cares about.
|
Thunder Rosa broke Jamie Hayter's nose. Apparently she hit her with the brain buster and somehow ended up kneeing Jamie in the nose in the aftermath. Jamie toughed it out though.
|
the word stiff comes to mind. So do sand and bag. Rosa really building a rep like Seth Rollins had a few years ago.
|
Rosa was wearing a sand bag shirt on dynamite. I liked rosa to begin with when they just booked her as a fiery wrecking machine. Her title run has been meh namely due to her inability to promo combined with poor storytelling for the division.
They need to find a way to get Cargill to the women’s world title scene. She’s far more interesting than pretty much anybody else they have. |
Yeah then get the TBS title or w/e onto Ember Moon.
|
Why is there even a TBS Title. Just have Britt Baker beat Thunder Rosa and Jade can unify the belts at All Out.
|
I have never got the appeal of Thunder Rosa. She is boring, can't promo, and I can't think of a single good match she has had when not propped up by Britt Baker.

He could be big if he goes back to WWE.... Got that advantage of not being there for awhile.
Guys like Kevin Owens or whatever, sure... Triple H could start pushing him again, but after so many years of being "just a guy" and being jerked around so much it would be like "who cares?" But Rusev would have the "advantage" of having been gone, so he can come back "refreshed".... push that guy on return and it can be believable. As opposed to if he was around in WWE all this time in which case it would be "I'm not buying him as suddenly now he's main event" |
It’s a work. Everyone is happy in AEW.

They just need to push Butcher

I was just reading that the stupid video game gimmick Miro debuted in AEW with was Tony Khan’s idea. I’d fucking want out too. Getting paid $1 million per year to sit around and audition for TV shows has its perks too though.
|
Damn... I was sure that would have been Miro's idea.... and just Tony with his "don't say no to bad ideas" attitude would have sat there and let it happen....
