Come on, Harold Meij. Call Heyman. Get Brock. Let him do UFC. Get Bryan. Sell TV to Paramount for cheap. You can do this.

Mr. Nerfect 06-08-2018 09:42 PM

Call The Rock. Call Conor McGregor if you need to. Wrestling needs something.

Emperor Smeat 06-08-2018 11:56 PM

NJPW wouldn't be able to afford McGregor even if they wanted to considering even WWE balked at the idea of having him show up for an appearance due to his high price.

Think he made more money in his fight against Mayweather than NJPW did as a company last year.

Anybody Thrilla 06-09-2018 12:48 AM

Buddy Murphy is really good. Mustafa Ali too.

Anybody Thrilla 06-09-2018 01:01 AM

Nikki Cross. Also great.

Big fan of Shayna Bazler too if she talks less.

Their feuds are still based on hair-pulling and mean nicknames. High school drama, because girls love #HighSchoolDrama.

DID YOU EVEN WATCH THE HISTORIC FIRST EVER WOMEN'S ROYAL RUMBLE?!?!?!?!

OR THE HISTORIC FIRST EVER WOMEN'S GAUNTLET MATCH?!?!?!?!

Anybody Thrilla 06-09-2018 01:40 AM

Lacey Evans. Kairi Sane. Bianca Belair. Lots of great talent in NXT right now.

Evil Vito 06-09-2018 05:01 AM

I haven't listened to Art of Wrestling in several years, but felt the need to tune in this week. Colt recorded a synopsis after each day of the trial and he released them all today now that the trial is over. Pretty interesting insight to what going through a trial is like.

I also think Shayna should talk less.

I'm enjoying TM61 right now. Didn't expect them to turn, but they're good at being dicks

To be honest, I'd rather not see outside stars come anywhere near wrestling. Ronda Rousey has seemingly already lost everything that made her special. She's not an actor and cannot do wrestling skits. She should have just been portrayed as a no-nonsense killer who breaks arms. Conor McGregor would come in as a big deal and then probably be paired up with Hornswoggle within a few months to appeal to kids.

I want to see that.

I can't believe how successful Bruce's bullshit is. Tony is a funny guy, but there was so much "I don't remember," "WWF was always better -- I should have stayed there." I refuse to listen to Bischoff's. I like Bischoff as a performer, but as a person he is so full of shit. The company fell apart in such a public way that I don't think there is much left to say. Bischoff sold the company's soul to the devil in order to buy a few huge years with Hogan and the nWo, and then things turned ironic.

Yeah, given the nature of his brand and his reliance on "name" personalities, Conrad has to play nice. I also think he's just a giant WWF fan and doesn't want to piss people off. People who take those podcasts as gospel are fucking marks to the highest degree.

#1-norm-fan 06-09-2018 10:00 AM

Where is this idea of Conrad being a WWF fan who "sucks up" and doesn't want to piss people off coming from? I constantly hear him flat out talking shit about WWE. Whether its terrible booking decisions or calling out Vince on being kind of a piece of shit.

It's because he balances it out with reverence and praise. Though I'll concede that it's probably because he actually just DOES like Vince and the WWE. But compared to Meltzer he doesn't go SUPER hard in on the criticism I guess.

#1-norm-fan 06-09-2018 01:20 PM

I mean, he definitely does balance it out but we all would in the same situation. WWE hasn't always been utter shit and Vince isn't an immoral piece of shit 100% of the time. He seems to call out the bad shit and praise the good. He's definitely not afraid to piss people off. The Pillman episode is a good example. He calls out Vince for how he handled the announcement of his death and the Melanie interview without hesitation and won't let Bruce brush it off.

Of course, the Network show he definitely seems to toe the line more. Which is why I forgot about that show after episode one.

McGregor would be a baffling decision because nobody in Japan would know who the fuck he was, he's not a pro wrestler so they would also be taking a huge gamble on him not being the shits.

Brock also would be dumb, especially since he totally fucked them over last time he was there and only cares about the money. They're definitely not going to bankroll having him come in just to steamroll all their top stars like Vince has.

Jordan 06-09-2018 02:19 PM

It's not that big of a deal but it does annoy me when people think that NJPW needs American "superstars" to get over in the USA. Be logical... McGregor? Lesnar? to NJPW are you living in this reality?

Fignuts 06-09-2018 05:20 PM

Yeah, I don't want Brock anywhere near NJPW.

It will only do so much. Unless they drastically change their product NJPW will always be a niche product. There's nothing wrong with trying to grow that niche, but they should stick to that. Every time they've made major decisions for marketing and profit reasons its bit them in the ass hard.

Ben Rodrigues 06-09-2018 06:53 PM

Wrestlng doesn't need anyone. It needs engaging can't miss tv just like any other episodic tv show.

Surprised looked like he won that one round.

Evil Vito 06-09-2018 11:20 PM

Punk got beat by a guy who doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.

I commend him for having the balls to get into the Octagon, but the dude needs to quit. This just isn't for him.

He got a ton of money. But yeah. He's gotta quit. I do wonder what's next for him. Or maybe he just fades into the abyss.

Jordan 06-10-2018 12:09 AM

Punk embarrasses me. Please get a job at Pepsi or a tattoo shop or something.

Maybe goes back to the occasional comic book writing like he did for a few Marvel books.

Lock Jaw 06-10-2018 01:29 AM

Was he any good at that, though? Never read any of the stuff he wrote.....

Droford 06-10-2018 01:35 AM

Punk will go back to wrestling. Maybe not now maybe not even next year but he'll be back. Probably with NJPW/ROH

No clue since I didn't read them either.

Just remember a lot of complaining online mainly from people that either usually hated him as a wrestler and/or thought he was just going to ruin the comics.

Lock Jaw 06-10-2018 02:25 AM

Think he wrote an ongoing Drax series for a bit..... but obviously it didn't catch on or anything.... don't think it is still going......

He was winning that one round. Then the announcer said Punk might win this round. Think the other guy magically heard him. Got up and proceeded to smash punks face in until he was squirting blood everywhere.

I hope they mock this douchebag all during the MITB show.

Cool King 06-10-2018 11:05 AM

If anyone has a spare hour and a bit to kill, then this documentary/review video I stumbled across was actually pretty decent.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5KEuxuVUJ7Y" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It's a guy's views and opinions on the SmackDown Series with some nostalgia thrown in.

I found myself relating to a lot of what he said with the odd disagreement here and there. It was actually a fun little watch if you have, like a said, the time to spare.

In what way does he “embarrass” you? You’re a wrestling fan, ship sailed a long time ago.

Ever since Flair was hospitalised he really seems to have aged quite a bit, still looks and sounds frail. :(

Cool King 06-10-2018 03:03 PM

I came across a Garrison Cade video on YouTube and a lot of the comments are people saying that they didn't know that Garrison Cade and Lance Cade were the same person.

I really hope they're joking.
