938,000 this week for Dynamite.

HHH has won.

Mr. Nerfect 08-04-2022 07:03 PM

938k compared to 2.23 million for a 3-hour Raw on a more competitive night of television? AEW is fucking kicking ass.

Lol, that demo on cable hasn’t mattered that way in years. And they wouldn’t have done better than BBT before it. WWE has come up short in negotiations in the past because advertisers don’t want misanthropic, white wrestling nerds buying their products that badly.

Mr. Nerfect 08-04-2022 10:30 PM

I wonder what replaces Dynamite and Rampage when WWE takes their slots? WCW Nitro and Thunder or NXT and Level Up?

In all seriousness, I’m glad xrod has someone he can look up to with this Seth Rollins gimmick. His people haven’t been properly represented since Eugene.

Looking back a year, however, these numbers appear to be concerning. Not only has the program plateaued in a viewing audience, but they are notably down from 2021. The 8/4/2021 episode of “Dynamite” had an average viewing audience of 1,102,000, 15% more than this week’s episode. And it’s even worse in the key demographic, as last year’s P18-49 rating was 0.46, 30% more than the previous week.

“Dynamite” isn’t the only AEW program not looking strong in the ratings — “AEW Rampage” has struggled mightily in recent weeks. Just this past Friday, “Rampage” received it’s second-lowest key demographic number in the history of the program.

1.96 million for RAW this week

Mr. Nerfect 08-09-2022 05:04 PM

I have a feeling AEW is going to romp to victory again this week.

It’s not about how many viewers you have, it’s about how many you didn’t lose from the previous week. Whether this is sheer volume or percentage will be decided on a basis on what makes AEW look better.

Destor 08-10-2022 12:20 AM

Tbf over a long enough time line...yeah. retention rate will be the deciding factor. (Assuming theyre both hemorrhaging at the rate claimed with is unlikely.)

Ouch.

That’s down from the second one that did 527k and the first one that did 704k. There’s a trend there.

Mr. Nerfect 08-10-2022 03:33 AM

Two of WWE’s 3 shows on A&E Sunday did better ratings than Battle of the Belts.

Biography (Lex Luger): 586k
Rivals (WWE vs. WCW): 488k
Smack Talk: 235k

The block runs from 8-11:30pm.

Jordan 08-10-2022 09:12 AM

Tony seems to think that droves of fans want to watch his indy dream matches. Claudio vs Jay Lethal is a fine match but it didn't draw anyone that wouldn't have watched Battle of the Belts otherwise.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-10-2022 09:52 AM

He's lost in the sizzauce.

Jordan 08-10-2022 10:25 AM

I am actually excited for where WWE will be in a few months once all of the effects of new leadership have set it. It's a really exciting time because Vince and Nick did focus the roster down so much that the people they are using are all for the most part quite good. And Triple H has so much more up his sleeve I'm sure. I keep thinking about how exciting NXT was in the early days of it's expansion.

It's crazy that this shift has happened in WWE while at the same time chaos reigns in AEW backstage it seems. I don't know exactly how accurate that reporting is but it's obvious something is wrong because Tony is a total spazz and the booking and hiring has been ridiculous.

Not saying I disagree with everything, I love Mox as champ and blood every week, I don't mind it. But there is a lot of bad decision's that have been made and continue to be made.

drave 08-10-2022 10:42 AM

TK and AEW will definitely need to make some monumental changes. WWE was already a behemoth that, in all likelihood, will never be dethroned for a litany of reasons.

However, now you have someone at the helm who has an amazing mind for what works on TV and what doesn't. The Behemoth is getting behemoth-er (great word, bigly word even) and they will need to do way better than they currently do.

Very reminiscent of when WCW started to nosedive. One of my issues with WCW was their production. Always looked and sounded.... amateur I guess. The on-screen talent, and these small details are going to become more critical than ever.

Sepholio 08-10-2022 10:46 AM

The Behemother

Big Vic 08-10-2022 02:14 PM

Does WWE have better camera work yet?

They didn’t stick around then…

Mr. Nerfect 08-10-2022 05:31 PM

Nope. And now they only lead by >1 million. So that means AEW wins.

XL 08-11-2022 03:26 PM

Well that’s clear as day.

Mr. Nerfect 08-11-2022 04:22 PM

972k for Quake at the Lake. Is has to be clear to people that the war is over. WWE loses.

Jordan 08-11-2022 04:36 PM

The real game changer was when Claudio became ROH Champion, his first WORLD championship belt in wrestling.

LOL special edition Dynamite with both a gimmick match & a world title match STILL can't get a million. Shit doesn't draw like it used to

Sepholio 08-11-2022 06:44 PM

Theres some guys wrestling down at the middle school gym tonight for the world title.

Destor 08-11-2022 07:44 PM

Dont even think its a continental title, has it even been defended out of the country in the last decade?

Not sure about Canada or Mexico, but I think Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly had a mid-card match in Japan for it just before they were signed to NXT.
