Rey Mystero vs Sin Cara

Never in a Lifetime

Keith 03-04-2013 06:07 PM

Rey Mysterio needs to lose a lot of weight if he wants to be able to wrestle and not mess his shit up.

The weight gain has really hurt him.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-04-2013 06:10 PM

But if he gains weight he can come back as Lizmark Jr. 2.

Really hope it happens at WrestleMania XXX. WrestleMania XXX could be the biggest show ever.

The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk

Undertaker vs. John Cena

Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara

Plus the rest of the roster and maybe Triple H in there.

These part timers really do make WrestleMania awesome.

Sky rebuked by Ofcom over WWE 'bare knuckle fight'

Sky has been criticised by Ofcom for airing violent scenes such as a 'bare knuckle fight' in WWE Superstars on a Saturday morning last year.

A complainant alerted Ofcom to content in a pre-recorded sequence featuring English WWE wrestler Wade Barrett, aired on Sky1 on November 10, 2012 at 9.20am.

The sequence depicted Barrett - who was raised "on the mean streets of Preston" - in underground wrestling and bare-knuckle fights, with people betting money on the outcome.

Lasting around one and a half minutes, the package included several close-up shots of punches and kicks to the head and chest in slow motion, with one competitor getting a bloody bruise on their chest.

The voiceover said: "Where I come from, the grim realities of life smack you in the face at every turn. An onslaught of fury is the only way to survive. I am Wade Barrett and my barrage has just begun."

After being contacted by Ofcom, UK WWE broadcaster Sky said that the sequence was intended to portray Barrett "as a dark and dangerous character".

Sky said that WWE wrestling is "highly dramatic and pantomime", but accepted that the sequence depicted "real" fighting outside of the ring, and therefore it may not have been suitable for a Saturday morning, when it was likely that children were watching.

Ofcom agreed, saying: "The scene in question depicted bare-knuckle fighting in an underground setting, clearly distinguishing it from staged competitive wrestling that takes place in a ring with a referee.

"The dark, aggressive and realistic nature of this scene combined with close-up slow-motion punches and kicks to the head and chest with powerful sound effects to underscore the impacts to make the material, in Ofcom's view, clearly unsuitable for children."

Sky apologised for the distress caused and said that it would review its guidelines for ensuring the compliance of WWE material broadcast on Sky1 in the future.

The company has also contacted the makers of WWE and advised them to avoid producing scenes that feature "real" fighting.

This isn't the first time that one complaint has had Ofcom having words with Sky about WWE programming. I remember reading a few years ago that Ofcom got a complaint about the opening of ECW back in 2006, as it showed Tommy Dreamer hitting Lita with a Dreamer Driver. The complaint was made because the opening showed "a man being violent towards a woman", though it was only on screen for about half a second.

Because of that one complaint, ECW got moved from Sunday mornings on Sky Sports 3, to after the watershed.

I always watch Superstars at the weekend and it's already heavily edited. Anymore editing and it'll be pretty much unwatchable. At the moment, headbutts are edited so instead of seeing a headbutt, you see a crowd shot. That makes Tensai matches on Superstars, pretty much pointless. "Suggestive actions" are also edited as a few times I've watched a Divas match on Superstars, things like ass shaking from girls like Layla and Eve, the stink face back during the days of Kelly Kelly and even ass spanking have been edited out to show the crowd. Words like "bitch" and "damn" are censored but "ass" isn't. Along with those, the usual weapon shots and low blows are edited and blood receives the black and white treatment.

I was actually thinking earlier today that I'd like Fandango to eventually debut in the ring much like Dolph Ziggler did -- a surprisingly competitive match with a high level name that you think would squash him.

Another idea I suggested in another thread is for Wade Barrett to be forced to defend the IC Title in a Battle Royal on the WrestleMania pre-show. Prior to the match, Fandango wants a proper introduction, but doesn't get it, so he sulks off. It comes down to Barrett and 3MB. The heels all try to take out, well, the other heel, but Barrett fights them all off, however, and manages to toss out all three guys in a moment of coolness. It looks like Wade Barrett is the winner of the match, but Fandango appears out of nowhere and dumps Barrett from behind. Since he was technically in the match and never eliminated, Fandango is proclaimed the new Intercontinental Champion.

Wade Barrett plays the no-nonsense ass-kicker, refusing to call "Fandango" by any name other than Johnny Curtis, while Fandango taunts Barrett with sneak attacks and dancing. An IC Title match between the two on RAW leads to Fandango getting himself purposely disqualified by hitting Barrett with the IC Title, but allowing him to remain champion. Fandango vs. Barrett at Extreme Rules in some sort of No DQ Match, where Fandango surprises everyone by getting the win over Barrett in the feud between NXT winners, establishing himself as a player and because Barrett really doesn't need the title at this point.

If people are really getting behind Barrett, you can keep him going after heels, but if not, you can just have him enter the main event scene as a heel.

Antonio Cesaro has really surprised me with how well he has fit into the WWE style. It looked a bit rough at first, but he's done a really solid job. I have a feeling the WWE will end up putting him against Sin Cara on the pre-show, but I'd love to see Cesaro vs. Jericho on the Mania main card with the US Title on the line.

Jericho returns and says that being put on the shelf by The Shield made him realise that he's not going to be able to do this forever, and there's only one achievement he has not held in his WWE career -- he's never been the US Champion. Cesaro comes out and says that he wants to face an American for the title at WrestleMania and Jericho points out that he was born in New York. Jericho starts a "U-S-A! Y-2-J!" chant. Cesaro says that he will gladly defend the US Title against Jericho at WrestleMania...if he can answer Cesaro's challenge:

Cesaro and Jericho will each face former United States Champions. If Jericho can beat his opponent quicker than Cesaro can beat his then Jericho can have his match. Qualifiers: Jericho must win his match and Cesaro gets to choose the opponents. Jericho points out that this is clearly rigged but Vickie Guerrero excuses herself and says she loves the idea and pretends to be attracted to Cesaro (sells his international lover gimmick). Jericho says that the odds are stacked against him but he believes in the power of "U-S-A! Y-2-J!" (Jericho does this a bit tongue in cheek)

Later that night, Cesaro awaits his former US Champion opponent -- Zack Ryder. Cole and Lawler sell that Cesaro's got size and power over Ryder, but do put over Zack's heart. Ryder goes full steam ahead against Cesaro and is easily overwhelmed at first, but manages to counter some of Cesaro's big moves, and even turns a Neutralizer attempt into a bridge pin for a close two count. A Rough Ryder attempt is caught and turned into a power move by Cesaro, and his finisher ends it at around six minutes or so, Cesaro slightly frustrated by the time, but he does get to choose Jericho's opponent on SmackDown.

Jericho awaits his adversary in the ring on "Friday night," and it turns out to be long-term rival Dolph Ziggler. Jericho looks slightly dismayed, not because he is facing Ziggler, but because he knows he has to beat him in six minutes to get the WrestleMania US Title match. Jericho and Ziggler work the best five and a bit minute match they can, as a further teaser as to what these two men can do together, but eventually The Miz pops up at ringside and distracts Ziggler. Jericho manages to get a sneak roll-up for the three count on Ziggler before the timer runs out -- thus becoming the new #1 Contender for the United States Championship!

Antonio Cesaro (watching from the stage) is absolutely horrified at this idea, and he goes to take out Jericho, but gets a Codebreaker for his troubles. Jericho holds up the US Title to close the segment between the two. On RAW, The Miz and Jericho team up to face the team of Ziggler and Cesaro, with the babyface team winning when The Miz pins Cesaro after a sneaky Codebreaker from Jericho. The weeks go by with that sort of stuff. Jericho and Ziggler can even blow-off their little rivalry with a one-on-one match on an edition of Main Event.

Cesaro and Jericho work a ten minute match at WrestleMania, where Cesaro gets to show off his power and skill against Jericho. Cesaro is too strong for Jericho to lock in the Walls of Jericho on him, and a Lionsault from Jericho only gets two on the Swiss Superman, which shocks the former headliner. Jericho goes for a Codebreaker, but Cesaro catches him and places him on the top rope. Cesaro hits a few European uppercuts on Jericho perched on the top rope, and then maybe even hits a springboard variant, or something like that. Cesaro goes for a top rope superplex to finish Jericho off, but Jericho blatantly shoves his fingers in the eyes of Cesaro and pushes him off the top rope. Jericho comes off the top with essentially a Flying Codebreaker to finish Cesaro off for three.

As Jericho celebrates with the US Title, having become only the third man in history to have held every current WWE championship, The Shield attack Jericho again and level him with their Triple Powerbomb. Ambrose calls out their opponents -- Randy Orton, Sheamus & Big Show -- for their six-man tag as Jericho is helped to the back.

After The Shield's match, Matt Striker is seen backstage with Jericho, who is getting treated by the trainers. Striker asks Jericho how he is feeling, and Jericho says some words about how he's hurt, but he did it. Cesaro then suddenly attacks Jericho from behind, and even tosses around some security guys who try to back him off from Jericho.

This, of course, leads to a rematch between the two down the line.

Mr. Nerfect 03-06-2013 05:24 AM

So yes, my dream Extreme Rules card would feature:

Chris Jericho (c) vs. Antonio Cesaro for the US Title

Fandango (c) vs. Wade Barrett for the Intercontinental Title
