I'm sorry but that would have been pretty fucking hilarious... especially if he broke the LED screen

Apparently either No Way Jose's theme is one of those royalty free tracks or WWE leased it out for sports teams since I just heard it being played during an NHL playoff game tonight.

Happens more often than you think. I've been watching NFL games for example and heard Triple H's theme playing. And I'm sure I've seen at least one, maybe more, commercials that use Cena's.

Every time I would go to a Syracuse game they would play a wrestling thing during halftime

Can see the WWE title and youngest ever champ record being broken at some point in the future. WWE just needs the ideal time and a storyline reason for both.

The other two records would take way too much work and effort by the WWE to even have a chance at breaking. Hogan's longest reign only beat out Sammartino's smaller reign by over 200 days and took some fudging of the numbers to get Backlund's 1st reign to hit the 2k number.

Listening to the Hardys' appearance on the E&C podcast from a few weeks ago on YouTube.

Weird how many people are commenting on how great it is to know that Matt and Edge are friends again. I don't see why that's surprising, I'd have actually been surprised to find they still had heat with each other. The Lita shit was 13 years ago, Matt's been with Reby since right around the time he left WWE in 2010, and Edge starting seeing Beth not long after he retired, and they're both married with kids. If anything, they can probably have a nice laugh about the Lita stuff now.

Maybe this clumsy moment makes up for nearly firing the guy over what amounted to Vince overreacting to nothing.

And I agree with Cool King. If he stayed under the ring, or at least crawled to the other side and "sneaked" in, he could have played it off like he did it on purpose.

I saw that Cena one. It was a car commercial.

I thought the whole weird, out of context "whispery chick covers 80's/90's rock songs" in commercials was jarring, but that is on a whole 'nother level.

It's different than hearing generic production tracks (Hardy Boyz theme, the original Uso's theme, etc...) because that's what they are for. Hearing Cena's theme unassociated with Cena at all would be like hearing Stone Cold's theme in an Applebee's commercial, or "I Am A Real American" for some airlines.

Don't agree at all. Aside from the obvious and already mentioned reasoning for the changeup, it does sound a bit more ominous and sinsiter.

... as opposed to fucking with Asuka or Drew McIntyre themes for absolutely no reason whatsoever and making them sound worse via overproduction in the process.

This era of SmackDown was really great... what the heck happened

Lock Jaw 04-30-2018 02:46 AM

AJ Styles lost the title, and Jinder Mahal had a never-ending feud with Randy Orton.

Emperor Smeat 04-30-2018 02:52 AM

Future WWE Hall of Famer James Ellsworth also got demoted to the Women's division.

Anybody Thrilla 04-30-2018 04:05 AM

Tenille Dashwood/Emma is fucking great. I won't accept any other opinions on the matter.

Remember everyone complaining about how poorly AJ Styles was being booked while holding the WWE Championship.

Also, Titus' "botch" was not a botch at all. Shit was planned, maaan.

And it was tremendous.

Mr. Nerfect 04-30-2018 04:22 AM

I'd feel more sorry for Titus if he didn't suck so much. I feel worse for Ultimo Dragon at WrestleMania XX.

Ok, found it.

You don't get it. There was an earthquake after that Twist of Fate. You know, cause Jeff's so heavy and all.

Mr. Nerfect 04-30-2018 07:39 AM

Rip Rogers is a guest on Sam Bowden's Memphis wrestling podcast this week. I love listening to Rip, haha. Might give it a listen. They've got this ongoing thing with Mil Miscaras in Memphis, and whether or not it was actually him that wrestled for them one Monday. There's a great exchange between Bowden (who cites Jerry Jarrett saying it was definitely him) and Jim Cornette who says that there is no way Mil Miscaras would do a job and that Austin Idol was probably pissed at Miscaras and put someone under the mask to beat him.

I've grown to hate the word "botch", because it just reeks of condescension and a certain kind of smugness.

As long as no one's getting hurt, and the wrestlers involved are good enough to know how to cover up and make it work, a "botch" is fine. It's supposed to be a real fight, supposed to be a struggle, so not everything is going to look smooth and crisp every time. One of the reasons I loved Sabu was that he was always able to make even the most elaborate spots look like a desperate act, and if anything it only added to it when they didn't always come off correctly.

Innovator 04-30-2018 09:52 AM

I love that Sabu would fuck up spots intentionally, so it meant more when he would hit it

Until he’d just repeat the spot again. I get what you’re saying. I don’t mind people fucking up. But they’ve made the business about the performance instead of the drama. I don’t like laughing at people getting hurt, and I’m not a fan of the word, but you really can’t blame people.

Mr. Nerfect 04-30-2018 10:22 AM

I was just randomly watching some Pirate Paul Burchill, because it tickles me. A guilty pleasure. YouTube linked me to Chuck Palumbo’s 2008 theme. I thought “What did they give him for that ABA Taker knock-off run?” The opening lyrics are hilarious. “You will remember me...” I spat out my tea.

I agree with this, almost completely. But I have never been as big on the match quality as the story. A sloppy punch up appeals to me if there is a reason why guys hate each other.

The only exception is what Jinder did. He made the whole thing look stupid with the delayed reaction. No problem missing the cue or the spot, like you say, but point to you head, pretend you outsmarted him. Don't be a knob and fall over.

Callihan botch annoyed me recently though. It was unsafe and could have ended a career. Put an egg on Kevin Sullivan's head recently too. Not a great idea to make being a clumsy idiot into your gimmick. Doesn't make you hard, just unsafe and bad at your job

I read that article last night and to me, I really can't see three of the four ever being broken.

The only one I can see being broken and most likely will, will be McMahon's record as "Oldest WWE Champion". Either Vince himself will win the WWE Championship before he dies or what's more likely is either Shane or Triple H becoming champion in a few years time when Vince isn't here anymore.

Triple H would be the more likely one.

Edge is a very lucky man.

Fantastic wrestling career, Hall of Famer, dated Lita when she was at her hottest and is now married to Beth Phoenix.

What a guy.

2008/2009 was a terrible year in my opinion for WWE Music.

It was mostly the vocals of the music that were awful but as a whole, 2008/2009 was just not a good year.

The worst of it all in my opinion was SmackDown's theme around that time.

Everything about that video screams, cheap, cheesy and cringeworthy to me.

Pretty funny since this was one of the top era's of Smackdown with Punk/Hardy and Edge/Jericho

Lock Jaw 04-30-2018 02:52 PM

Have zero memory of that Smackdown intro/theme.

I guess I did go through a period of "barely watching Smackdown" after Eddie died..... lasted through most of Edge's reign "on top".....
