Think it's @FakeLaser
Was at the USA game last night. Adam Jones robbed that homerun literally feet from my buds and I. Fucking amazing.
You weren't one of the people in the pic getting made fun of for their reaction?
No thank God. I was outside that frame
Drew Pomeranz got shut down due to a triceps issue for the Red Sox
And people still think they're going to win the AL East |
Lol Pomeranz is at best their 4 starter. Losing him isn't as big of a deal. He was actually terrible for them so I'm reality it's prob a wash if they have to summon a replacent level arm to f fill his spot.
Pablo Sandoval may not win the starting job. And people still think they're gonna win the East.
Tim Tebow is going to the Columbia Fireflies in the SAL which the Orioles Affiliate Delmarva Shorebirds are a part of and I live 5 min from the stadium. Might have to go to the only time they play them here May 10-12 if he's still hanging aroubd
Related note..they should have Bray Wyatt throw out a pitch
Making my very first spring training trip this Thursday. Pretty excited, as I have family scattered throughout Arizona and plan on getting very, very drunk.
I don't care about the actual spring training stats, but with guys coming off of injury I do care about how they appear to be physically.
Matt Harvey is hitting 91, 92 on his fastball and getting hammered as a result because his secondary stuff isn't at the level of a guy like deGrom who was still dominant early in the year last year even when his velocity took a while to come back. The Mets have 7 legit MLB starters. They can't afford to give games away in a tough division just to keep Harvey happy. Put Gsellman and Lugo in the rotation and let Harvey stay in extended spring training until his velocity is at a point where he can thrive on the big stage. There's no point in having starting pitching depth if you aren't going to use it. |
Agree with Vito. You can gage health in spring training and a guy who is sitting 3 to 5 mph lower than his typical velocity is not a good sign. Keeping him in extended to build health is a good thing. Send him on some rehab starts while they're at it.
Exactly. If Harvey's curve or change were good enough for him to overcome the lack of a fastball, it'd be fine to let him start the year. But they're not. And his slider never was the same after his TJS.
There's no shame in starting the year in extended spring with the rotation the Mets have. Wheeler's gonna stay back in extended too so he can pitch in controlled games as a way of limiting innings, and he seems 100% unlike Harvey. He probably won't be up until May and even then he may start in the pen just to let them stick to their plan of keeping him in the low 100s range for innings. Syndergaard-deGrom-Matz-Gsellman-Lugo is still a damn fine rotation to open the year. They don't get a Wild Card berth without those last two. I really think Gsellman could be a legit ROTY candidate if he was in the bigs all year, and Lugo's been killing it in the WBC with the spin rate on his curveball. |
Gsellman is sneaky good.

YES Network returns to us Comcast customers on March 31st.
Just in time for opening day. |
Hope the Jays are still a playoff team. I feel a regression might be coming. I hope not.

Not even. No reason to think Stroman and their pitching staff won't keep them competitive. Morales will probably provide league average like offensive production.
The big problem right now in Toronto is left field. It is a giant hole and I don't think Melvin Upton is the answer. |
They're very good everywhere else, tough, and I think they'll be competitive at the worst.
Lol
Jays will barely be a .500 team |
I wonder what that last Droford post says?
Oh wait, no I don't because having him on ignore makes the MLB thread much more bearable. |

Blue Jays currently working on a deal to extend manager John Gibbons' contract for 2 more years with an option for a 3rd year. His current contract is set to expire after this season.
I was going to write a post about how John Gibbons is a terrible manager but it aint even worth it.
Yeah remember the time he trotted out Ubaldo Jimenez in extra innings to face the heart of the Jay's batting order when he had Zach Britton waiting in the bullp- oh wait.
But yeah I am actually not big on Gibby. 2 Alcs appearances means you should reep some benefits though.

He sure is going somewhere. But you keep telling yourself he isn't.
Is someone on the Yankees wearing Machado's number right now?
Nope, A-Rod's retired so #13 is available.
THE STARS ARE ALIGNING |
It's ok guys. Droford's plan of having Machado take a discount the first 3 years of his deal while Davis' contract withers away is bulletproof. And we all know Schoop is better than Kipnis.
Backloading contracts happens all the time.
And Schoop is better than Kipnis |

Well considering Kipnis is out for a month and Schoop is healthy I guess Kipnis sure is better alright
Lol Kipnis is still better. He's a better hitter, better fielder and better base runner. Schoop is better at making lots of outs so I guess that's where your argument is from.
And yes, contacts are back loaded, but not to the ridiculous extent you insinuated. Machado isn't going to take 15 mil a year for the first 3 years. That's absurd when he's probably gonna make 25 to 30 mil a year. You're thinking he'll take half that when somebody will happily pay it upfront if ridiculous. |

The Cardinals are doing what the braves did last year. $30 a month gets you a guaranteed standing room spot for every Cardinals game. Supposedly MLB is pushing teams to do this although I can't see the Cubs or Yankees doing it..

I wish the Padres would open up the sun deck out on centerfield for standing room. However it's group tickets only.
Thankfully there's deck right above it with a bar. |
USA just beat Puerto Rico for the World Baseball Classic crown.
And it was glorious. Love the wbc. Glad USA finally has a trophy to show for themselves. Was already a Marcus Stroman fan but he'sc won me over once again
Not-Braunnnnnnnn wins the WBC.
WBC tournament confirms the importance of series in playoffs. Both Japan and Puerto Rico didn't know defeat until yesterday and today.
That's what gives it the edge. I like the way it's currently set up as its very different compared to the usual playoff structure.
No Trout, no Harper, no Bryant, no Kershaw, no Syndergaard, no Bumgarner, no problem.
Quote:
$30/month for that would be fucking incredible. I doubt it would be that cheap though. Must vary on a team-by-team basis |

Oriole Park has standing room over the scoreboard but it would be a nightmare if they sold s bunch of tickets just for that area on a plan like this. |
Speaking of "spring stats only being important in certain situations", Travis d'Arnaud has already allowed 12 base stealers this spring in 13 opportunities.
4 have come in today's game with Thor pitching. 1 of the 4 steals today was on a fucking pitchout attempt and TDA still couldn't throw him out. TDA better hit. That's all I can say. |
Played opening day in the show 17. Gausman threw a no hitter which is the first time I've ever done it in a game
Can't wait Ps The Show 17 is about a perfect baseball game as there can be |
Mets Jeurys Familia got suspended for 15 games due to violating MLB's domestic violence policy.
Incident itself happened late last year but not enough evidence was available for the MLB to give him a stricter punishment. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1...ame-suspension |
Just picked Sox tix for first time since like 2010.
Yankees games back on my TV tomorrow.
So excited. |
Kind of embarrassed to be a Cubs fan this year....want to be able to celebrate my favorite sports team by wearing GOLD everything and cheering for them loudly, but don't want to deal with dumb bandwagon fans....
Comes with the territory. Enjoy it and don't worry about the other guys.

Orioles will start season with 3 man rotation 8 man bullpen 5 man bench
Wade Miley and Tillman start the year on the DL. Wont need a 4th starter until April 8th when Miley can supposedly come off the 10 day DL. Wont need a 5th starter until April 15th with the competition for that spot up in the air Cant wait for opening day on Monday |

Took a week but the sox finally sweep the Pirates. It was cold af. Assholes were selling 9 dollar small as hell hot chocolates in the stands.
The game I went to in June of 2012 it was cold and they were selling clam chowder. Just exactly what id want at a ballgame
They probably were also selling that but I hate that slop.
If the Blue Jays are out I like the Orioles chances of winning the AL East a ton more.
Why? Boston is better than Toronto.
Everyone's better than the Jays
Thanks for the insight.
I've made my feelings known about the Red Sox. They won't be able to keep pace with last years offense. Blah blah flu..SSS and all but they're about 90 pts off the slugging % they only have 4 homers which is the same as the 1-8 jays for fewest. Much like the Jays are missing EE (and now Donaldson for a week or two) the Sox are missing Ortiz. Blah blah flu..what will their excuse be in June?
The os traded international signing bonus slot #15 to the brewers for my new favorite named pitcher Damien Magnifico.

Disgusting antics yesterday by some drunks from Southie against Adam Jones. Standing ovation from the real fans tonight.

ugh machado is such a little fucker I love it
