FourFifty 06-26-2007 01:05 AM

Hey, it wasn't you. Sorry. It's just every conversation I've had with wrestling fans in the last three days (except one) has had someone saying "It's still real to me, damnit" and I'm sick of it.

Gone Mad 06-26-2007 01:05 AM

I was at work when the news broke. My friend just text me with Benoit was found dead and I was just stunned. The reason I was still watching wrestling is gone. Someone who I watched in matches and respected everything he did in the ring. He's now gone and probably commited some horrible acts.

Either way, this is very sad and it's just hard to believe.

FourFifty 06-26-2007 01:06 AM

It's all but offical.....

Hmmmm, well fair enough if its being reported..but still, shocking i feel worse for his family than him. The question still remains as to why?

Kalyx triaD 06-26-2007 01:08 AM

I read the first page of this thread just to see reactions and compare them to mine and instead I damn near cried. I'm playing "Beat It" and cartoon theme songs right now! This shit is so heavy man... Me and my friend were coming up with stupid topics during commercial breaks like, "That Transformers movie looks nice" and stuff like that.

GOD DAMMIT!!! Guys, FUCK

I'm contemplating, seriously contemplating not watching pro-wrestling anymore. Just casually keep up with results and such like Smallville or something. It's not even entertaining anymore and I don't think I'll be able to take it seriously when Mr. McMahon's dead again after seeing his ass was in a WWE ring tonight. I don't feel like seeing HBK or even Torrie fucking Wilson (who I hate to see on TV) one week and dead the next. These are people you see weekly and invest attention to them. They speak and move and make gestures at you and BOOM - "So and so is found dead."

Does anybody feel me on this? If I'm overreacting just give me a good old red-dot and I'll begin the slow walk back to business as usual.

Skippord 06-26-2007 01:09 AM

Thats gonna make ECW intensly awkward

Shadow 06-26-2007 01:09 AM

Folks...can ya do me a favor? Stop with the speculation until we have some solid proof? All this speculation is rather...dissapointing.

RP 06-26-2007 01:10 AM

Was McMahon at raw tonight?

Londoner 06-26-2007 01:11 AM

Yeah RP he stood in the ring and revealed his own death was a storyline, could've atleast said 'fake'. I'm also probably gonna stop watching, i was going to anyway before Vengeance but this is like the final nail in the coffin.

FourFifty 06-26-2007 01:15 AM

For me, the show must go on. You cannot blame what happened with Chris Benoit on WWE, The McMahon family, or anyone else.

I might watch ECW just to see what's going on, and read SmackDown's spoilers.

Londoner 06-26-2007 01:17 AM

Im not blaming it on WWE, just i don't feel i have a reason to watch now especially after how shit Vengeance was, as i said, this was before Benoits death.

TapOut 06-26-2007 01:17 AM

I simply cannot believe this.

I have watched Benoit ever since he joined the WCW roster full-time. This is a character study, a psychology study. None of us know Benoit, but we feel like we do. Then something like this happens and we totally have to re-evaluate what we THINK we know.

No matter what comes of this, nothing will change what I thought of Benoit the wrestler, the man who went out there and gave 100% + every night. Easily the best in-ring worker I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

R.I.P. to all three of them and prayers to his family, frieds and co-workers.

As for Vince, the angle was fiction and this is reality, and McMahon made that clear. I will not try to make them seem like they were somehow related like some fans are. Two entirely different incidents, and I'll treat them as such. McMahon showed a lot of class by canceling the show and dropping the angle. WWE has done everything right in my book.

Hanso Amore 06-26-2007 01:22 AM

The WWE must have some reliable Info. They would never put out he was a killer unless it was definite. Not to save his name, but for their own pockets. Now they had a Murderer on the payroll. They must KNOW, because this is going to hurt them.

FUCK YOU AND EVERYTHING YOU STAND FOR

TapOut 06-26-2007 01:29 AM

I don't want to believe it, but everything certainly points in the direction of some sort of murder-suicide. Who did what, who knows. But the overwhelming evidence has the authorities saying they think Benoit did it. Like I said, I hate that this happened, but I'm not going to refuse to believe it because he was one of my favorite wrestlers.

WWE.com wouldn't put anything hinting at Benoit being a killer if they didn't have just reason to believe it. Maybe there's some off-chance everyone is wrong, but with the statements coming so quickly, that seems unlikely.

The best we can do is remember Chris for his career and try not to pretend we know stuff we really don't.

Shaggy 06-26-2007 01:30 AM

Getting off the subject just a little bit...something Im really proud of is that for once something huge has happened and we dont have fifty billion different threads about it. Finally for once everything about one thing is kept in one thread.

Thank You everyone who had decided to post in this thread instead of going off and posting 30 other threads about this...

On a day like today its good to only have to read from one place other than reading fifty different places.

The Naitch 06-26-2007 01:31 AM

i hope this makes wrestling cool again

Shaggy 06-26-2007 01:32 AM

If they even report that anything bad that has been talked about is true I still am not going to agree with it...I dont want to believe it.....

Renaissance man 06-26-2007 01:34 AM

My god no :(

R.i.P Chris

You Will always be the greatest in our eyes

Dammit man :(

Jon Kano 06-26-2007 01:34 AM

Naitch you are not, and never will be cool, so stop trying and stfu you prick.

Azriel 06-26-2007 01:38 AM

Damn, i really don't know what to think, but damn, Benoit was one of the best wrestlers out there and he will surely be missed

Will anyone here respect Benoit less if it's confirmed that he was the murderer? Not saying anyone should, just wondering...

Londoner 06-26-2007 01:42 AM

I already have done...i respect Benoit the wrestler but Benoit the person is a disgrace for doing this...

The action, whoever committed it (presumably Benoit) is absolutely disgraceful. None of us would disagree with that. But is a person a disgrace for one action? A sad soul, yes, a very troubled and conflicted person - I bet he was high at the time - but I'm interested to see what others think about him being a disgrace.

Londoner 06-26-2007 01:49 AM

To kill your family is a disgraceful thing to do, which makes you a disgraceful person, i dont want to believe it either, but it happened, apparently.

Marc the Smark 06-26-2007 01:52 AM

Aren't we all a little curious to see what weapons were used? If it really was Benoit who did this, did he even need any weapons??

Shaggy 06-26-2007 01:54 AM

I would assume weights were used as the weapons.

Azriel 06-26-2007 01:56 AM

I'm really hoping Benoit didn't kill his family. Maybe more likely he killed himself in grief over losing his wife and son.

Azriel 06-26-2007 01:57 AM

BTW, did WWE.com take down the videos completly? I've been trying to find them

Impact! 06-26-2007 02:01 AM

Knife Edge Chops

Impact! 06-26-2007 02:02 AM

And yeah, they've taken down the video's.

Londoner 06-26-2007 02:06 AM

Even ssnews reported it now, that was weird. Just said what wwe.com said.

According to an article I was reading on ESPN.com "The WWE reported on its Web site on Monday night that friends received several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."

I'm guessing that, coupled with that quote about how the evidence will be a little bizzare may be the reliable info... I don't know. Obviously if there was some seriously horrible info in the texts sent Sunday morning, it would have been taken care of Sunday morning I would assume.

TapOut 06-26-2007 02:11 AM

It doesn't say in what condition the bodies were in, that's important to remember. Just because it said there were no bullet wounds doesn't mean there were no wounds of any type. I think that immediately makes us think of strangulation or something else. There are numerous other things that could have happened, far too many to speculate on.

As to whether or not this changes my perception of him... well, I didn't know him, but the way I imagined him seems very much in line with how his peers describe him: Passionate, took his work seriously, timid but tough, etc. This may or may not change how I percieve him as a person. I just don't know. I see people on the news all the time accused of such things and I think they're animals, now one of my idols is dead and accused of a heinous act and I have a hard time thinking of him as I do the others who have done the same thing.

Kalyx triaD 06-26-2007 02:12 AM

I'm sorry if this comes off funny but I would assume Chris Benoit wouldn't need a weapon to kill a woman and a child.

Jon Kano 06-26-2007 02:13 AM

I have saved some of the vids in the FLV? format, but you can d/l players to play them if anyone wants them. Think I got them all apart from CM Punk's.

I don't even know what to think. Benoit was one of my all time favorites, and really one of the only reasons I've even been remotely interested in wrestling at all these last couple years. As a performer he will always be one of the absolute best at professional wrestling, bar none.

Who knows how or why any of this happened. Part of me knows the evidence is saying he's a murderer, part of me is holding onto the belief that there will be another scenario found and his name will be cleared. I've been reading some of the posts and I agree with a lot of what's been said, and some people have just made assholes of themselves. But all I can say is if Chris Benoit did kill his wife and son, he was a piece of shit, plain and simple. You can find a way to condone killing someone if it was in the heat of the moment and the killer is sorry, but to kill a child? And moreover to kill your own child? That's just fuckin twisted and evil. I don't want this to sound like I'm jumping to conclusions, because I sincerely, sincerely hope Benoit did not do this. I want to remember him as a great performer and speak positively of his wrestling ability. And right now all of this is just theory and speculation anyway. Either way, Benoit was a great wrestler and no matter what happened he will always be one of the best in his profession.

My prayers go out to his family and friends and to Nancy's family and friends. This is truly a sad day for pro wrestling and for pro wrestling fans.
