There's good stuff from Anthony Anderson here but it's lost in the mire.
Glenn Close is oddly out of her depth in this format. Goggins just isn't Goggins in this at all. |
Vic's daughter is actually so bad that it worries me they didn't make her the autistic one. That is truly baffling.
Vic's wife hasn't annoyed me since I started skipping her scenes. Her face is awful though. |
Recently started Ray Donovan. Love it so far. Finishing up season 1 tonight.
|
Ray Donovan is a solid show; I think I've only seen seasons 1-3.
|
Season 5 of The Shield is back to being brilliant.
Vic's wife seems to be not as bad now. Maybe someone figured out her range. Forest Whitaker bringing some serious chops to the table... Fucking quality gig. |
The actor that played Julien is in prison for 40 years to life for shooting his wife dead.
Didn't expect that! |
This guy from The 40-Year Old Virgin is serving a life sentence for attempted murder.

I'm currently watching the first season of Mindhunter on Netflix. Quality show.

No we definitely talked about this before. I will try and find it |

Holy shit! We did
|
Completed the first season of Mindhunter. It was something else.
|
Finished season 2 of SWAT; man, the show is so preachy with its moralising and social justice, but it is very watchable.
I've also finished The Looming Tower, which is a mini-series drama revolving around the interagency distrust and conflict between the CIA and the FBI, and how it led to 9/11. A very good programme; check it out. |
Nearly finished The Shield.
It is a vastly overrated show, but it certainly isn't bad. |
Watching City on a Hill
It’s Kevin Bacon with a 90s haircut and cop stache being crooked with the booger sugar in Massachusetts. It’s pretty bad/good. |
I finished my rewatch of Scrubs (minus season 9 - that season does not exist, as far as I'm concerned). Season 6 was a bit iffy, but seasons 7-8 were solid, though nowhere near as good as seasons 1-3.
I'm going to give Parks and Recreation a try, though I've read the first season is rather naff. |
Parks And Recreation is a great show.
I actually quite like season 1 for a couple of great moments like the dog poo fight and Leslie's haircut. That being said it really is a better show from season two onwards. I would say it veers into self satire by the end and the peak is probably seasons 2&3 but on the whole it is one of the better comedies of the last decade or two. Ron Swanson is top class, as is Jean Ralphio and his sister. |
Also the last episode is very well done.
A good example for great finales. |
The greatest sitcom ending ever is easily "Still Game".
For a broad show that was never afraid to pander, it came up with the most beautiful ending I think could ever be done. Wonderful. |
Law and Order SVU.
I watched Eastbound and Down last year and will probably start watching “The People vs OJ Simpson” for my next project. |
Finished watching the 1980s mini-series, The Far Pavilions, which is based on the book of the same name. It is an "epic romance" set during the British Raj.
To say it is a naff 80s tv series, it was rather watchable, with a big budget for the period and set on location in India. I was surprised to see that even in the 1980s actors were still being "browned-up"; Christopher Lee and other white actors playing the main Indian characters. |
Finished The Good Place. Dave, don’t read below.
It was fine. The characters were lovely. But for a show about the eternal conflict between good and evil, and the existential crisis of human existence, it seemed very low stakes. |
Starting Schitts Creek now
|
Where the stakes are even lower
|
Do a show where Larry The Cable Guy gets to make fun of the LGBTQ community, it's only fair.
There is no "our word" in LGBTQ. |
So far Schitt’s Creek is, “what if Arrested Development, but Canadian?”
Enjoying it |

Watching the last season of Channel Zero. Fucking criminal that this got canceled but shitty American horror story is still going, 9 seasons strong.

Yeah, season 9 somewhat ruins the show's legacy.
I've watched season 1 of Parks and Recreation and I'm coming to the end of the second season. I'm enjoying the show; it started to find its feet at the end of the first season, and has carried on strong since. It has a charm to it that I find very appealing (not just Rashida Jones). As Seanny mentioned, the chap that plays Ron Swanson is great. I've watched the first couple of episodes of the sci-fi show, Haven; I'm undecided yet whether I will continue with it. I'm going to start Falcon and the Winter Soldier, tomorrow, now that most of the show is available. |
Never did bother to check out Parks and Rec, it feels like it was created in the wake of The Office and attempted to recreate the workplace mockumentary idea. Which is fine I guess, just didn't want to shift my allegiances over from one show to the other
|
Yeah, never checked out Parks and Rec either for the same reason.... felt I already had one wokplace mockumentary in my life....
|
I was late to Parks and Rec for the same reason but I eventually got there and was glad I did.
A very pleasant show. |
Yeah, I hear nothing but good things about it
|
Finally started to watch Daredevil Season 3...... "lol" at this angle of "we can't trust FBI agents who are in financial crisis because they can be bought"-"Well, can I have a raise?"-"No."
|
I'm currently half-way through season 5 of Parks & Recreation. I think as Seanny said, seasons 2 and 3 are the golden years; season 4 was solid but it does feel like the series is running out of steam now. Even Ron Swanson is not as iconic as he once were.
I've watched season 1 of Yellowstone and I'm a couple of episodes into season 2. If it did not keep descending into melodrama a la Brothers and Sisters or Nashville, it would be a pretty great show; but it is rather watchable, as a result of all the scenery porn. |
Sweet Home
Korean show about a zombie apocalypse, except instead of zombies, people turn into weird monsters. Pretty good but omg stop using Warriors by Imagine Dragons for literally every heroic scene. |
I pretty much binge-watched seasons 2 and 3 of Yellowstone at the weekend. It is kinda naff, but I enjoyed watching it, partly because of the scenery porn. Bring on season 4!
I have now moved on to season 2 of Billions. Like Yellowstone, it is full of characters that live firmly in the grey-area and are not particularly likeable individuals. I'm into season 6 of Parks & Recreation, and I feel like I'm only watching it out of habit or out of the need to see it through to the end at this point. I don't dislike it; it still has the charm that drew you in in seasons 1-3, but the magic is now gone. |
Been watching "The Leftovers" which is not about food
Could immediately tell it was written by the guy from Lost... just a load of insane questions immediately and no hope of them being answered for ages. Although they do answer some of the big 1s... which is different from Lost This show is pretty psycho but it's pretty good... the music seems very "pre-Trump"... there was one episode where they kept playing versions of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" which I thought was funny and versions of Pixies "Where is My Mind" plays throughout season 2 which I understand why but come on. The intro to season 2 was a song I like by Iris Dement though which was kool Really h8 when you can't tell if someone's hallucinating in a show... annoying About to start the final season now, let's see if they answer the big questions |
I bought the first series of The Leftovers a couple of years ago and I still haven't gotten round to it yet.
|
Someone around here really loved it.... forget who...
|
me. its outstanding
|
I also loved it. It's probably in my top 10 series ever. Probably gonna watch it again when I finish my Stargate Atlantis binge.
|
ive watched it 2 or 3 times. always holds up. season 1 remains a drag. builds too slow. but once the show realizes its going to have a short run it really delivers
|
Is there an actual conclusion to it though?
|
Season 3 starts with a bunch of stuff Season 2 should have ended with

I watching "Invincible" on Prime after completing Mindhunter. Both were excellent.
|
I'm on to season 4 of Billions at the moment. Now that Paul Giamatti's and Damien Lewis' characters aren't going after one another, the show seems to have lost its bite, but we'll see if it recovers.
I haven't watched Parks & Recreation in about a week; I need to finish it. |
Quote:
|
@LockJaw Are you planning to watch Invincible?
Started watching the first season of Schitt's Creek. It's a bit off that the characters are "nice" even though they're suppose to be selfish. It's probably because they're Canadian. |
Please view the "Invincible" thread for my response to that question

Liking it. |
Binged the new season of castlevania today. So good. Absolutely amazing fight scenes.
|
Almost done binging the 17 seasons of stargate. One more season to go. Really hope the rumors of a new series end up being true.
|
It's been awhile since I watched any of the Stargate series; but the stories are still fresh in my memory, so no need at the mo.
|
Were there really 17 seasons of that show? Damn.....
|
If you include SG: Atlantis and SG: Universe, it comes to something like that.
|
Ohhhhhh
I remember enjoying the movie well enough as a kid. Never watched a single episode of the show. |
Watched a couple episodes of schitt's creek. Some funny parts
|
Season 2 of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist done.... not as good as season 1 I think.... still hope it gets renewed....
|
I'm coming to the end of the first season of Big Love. I'm not particularly grabbed by it, but I'll watch season 2 to see if it develops further.
I seem to have abandoned Parks and Recreation; I've watched the first two episodes of season 6, but haven't bothered to watch anymore. |

New season of Love Death and Robots. Very good so far.
|
Finished Ray Donovan. Didn’t know it had been cancelled, which was initially crappy to find out. Then I saw they’re going to wrap the series up with a feature length film and that made me happy.
I’m now watching Me. Mercedes with Brendan Gleeson and I like it. It’s a slow burn but I enjoy it and am on to season 2. |
i dont know why "slow burn" has a negative connotation. it shouldn't. like anything its all in execution. its neutral.
|
It doesn't generally have a negative connotation.
He just gave it one by saying "but I enjoy it". |
people always follow slow burn with a but
|
like it needs defending
|
I think you just hang around with fast and loose TV viewers.
Showsluts. |
I personally love a slow burn. Builds tension and anticipation. Season 2 of Mr Mercedes has the same pacing but a little more supernatural vibe in how they’re playing out the season.
|
Finished that show the leftovers. I would have liked if it ended a little quicker. Feeling like maybe there was some payoff, a little. I will no longer be watching shows by "Damon Lindelof" where half the time you can't tell if someone is hallucinating, having a dream, in a flashback, or is in the afterlife. Just not interesting any more after LOST and this show
I think it's funny that some of the actors in this show had probably some of the most difficult acting jobs ever, just being in really intense situations and like submerged in water all the time, while other actors who played main characters had it incredibly easy because they spent most of their screen time being completely silent and maybe writing a line or two down on a piece of paper. |
On to season 3 of Mr Mercedes which introduces an entirely new threat for the cast to take on. The show was cancelled after this season so m I’m hoping this ends on a high note. I have to commend the show for not going ridiculously over the top or packing everything they can into the season finales. They keep with the slow build and hold their pace all the way to the end and swerve you by not going with main character Brendan Gleeson getting the last laugh against the antagonist.
|
I've watched seasons 1 to 3 of Big Love (out of 5) and I've liked it, though I've not been engrossed in it as I feel I should be. I might give it a rest for a while and I'm probably going to watch Medici: Masters of Florence. I saw the first season 2-3 years ago, but I don't think I've see the other two.
|
About to start Lucifer season 5B
|
Dennis Haysbert's voice very soothing and relaxing....
|
Watched 3 episodes today... I think I'm starting to like Disney+ method of releasing an episode a week.... clearly designed to get you to keep the subscription, but with Netflix and it all dumping at once, feel like it goes to quick and before you know it the enjoyment of the show is over.... Yeah, I could limit myself to one a week, but I'm not going to because I don't have that restraint....
|
i watch 1 ep a day personally
|
Just learned that Schitt Creek’s Moira was the mom in Home Alone.
|
Catherine O'Hara.... she is rather famous, you know

It probably should be.
She’s one of the good ones. |
Binged through the three seasons of Medici. An entertaining, if slight show; kind of in the same vein as The Tudors, with less sex and nudity.
I'm trying to decide whether to watch Nip/Tuck or the From Dusk Till Dawn series next. I've decided to leave Big Love; three seasons is enough of that show. I could do with watching more of the Star Wars: Clone Wars series; I think I've only seen the first season. |
I never got around to watching Wandavision or Falcon/Solider bc they didn't seem like things I had to watch to understand the happenings of the MCU but I did watch the first episode of Loki. Good production design, interesting enough so far to watch episode 2 when it's available.
|
Wandavision and Falcon & the Winter Soldier are both entertaining shows; if you like MCU in general, they are worth watching.
|
Quote:
main takeaway from that show is that sam is captain america now, the government's initial replacement captain america is now working for the contessa/madame hydra (whatever she'll be in the MCU) and bucky has worked out his winter soldier grief zemo is also there and he is wonderful wandavision will 100% have a bigger impact on the framework of the MCU, in tandem with loki's layout of the multiversal war/sacred timeline business feels like wanda will cause a nexus event or something in doctor strange 2 as she tries to deal with the events of her series anyway wandavision is excellent. absolutely worth it |
Just watched the first episode of Loki.... nice "production design" but feels like maybe it will be the most "unnecessary" and "unimportant" of the shows..... but maybe it will prove me wrong. Only been 1 episode.
|
idk, feels like the whole backstory about the multiversal war, nexus events etc will pretty directly tie into doctor strange 2 and/or spider-man 3
could be setting myself up for mephisto-esque disappointment though i guess was also pretty dispiriting to find out SPOILER: show |
Damn.... Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist canceled after two seasons....
